This report is informational and requires no Council action. Back~,zround Rexase collection routes are going to be revised due to the following: 1. Between April 1, 1972 and July 3, 1972, a_n extensive survey of the. reuse collection system vas conducted for the purpose of deter- rainirg ~=rork leads a.nd the efr:ciency of ±he fourteen rogular collection routes.- As a-result of the ~- '-~' ` .arvey, central bussness disciic~ collec- tion was-made -r.~ore e;"ficient through less travel ti.xne. - 2. The.-staff Learned with more preciseness how 7.o:ag it takes to collect o*n each route a.nd that certain routes. could be enlarged. Because of these operational changes, the number of regular collect; on routes can be reduced from 14 to 12 and the nu_7.ber of -regular, budgeted-Refuse Division employees from 50 to 46 4<i~n little o-r no service r~ducticn. Four positions will be eliminated fro;n the Refuse Division in the 1976-77 budget. '1 he cost of these positions including fringe benefits is approximately $65, Ono //R To: ~~ayor and Council -2- January 7, 1976 annually.
