SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Hvt
Congregate Meals far the Recreation and Parks Depart-
ment, Bid 42050.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid far hot congregate meals far
senior citizens far the period July 1, 1986 thru June 30, 1987 at
the rate of $2.15 per meal, with two one year options.

In response to published Natives Inviting Bids (published March
20, 21, 1986) to furnish and deliver hot congregate meals far
senior citizens in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read an April 1, 1986. Proposal
forms were mailed to *14 vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code pravisipns. Two
proposals were received as follows:
Greyhound Faad Management Inc. - $2.15 per meal
~*Sarensen Catering Inc. - $2.20 per meal
~ Mailed to one WMBE
*~- WMBE firm
It is estimated that approximately 56,475 meals will be provided
and will be delivered serving four locations. It was required

that all bidders be approved by the Las Angeles Area Agency on
Aging. Due to the competitive nature of providing law cast
meals, the successful bidder is generally located close to the
nutrition meal sites.
Members of the Nutrition Advisory Council recommended that it
would be in the best interest of the senior citizens that Grey-
hound Faod Management Inc. bid be recommended to the City Council
for acceptance.
Budgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986-87 appropriation authority for this purchase
will be as set forth in next year's budget far the Recreation
and Parks Department, Senior Nutrition Program, account number
01-400-544-000-437.
Recammendatian
It is recommended that the award of Bid ~~2050 be made to Grey-
hound Food Management Inc., as per specified unit price, with two
one year options, as the lowest and best bidder.
