SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Contract to Remodel the
Recreation and Parks Office in City Hall
Introduction
This report requests that the City Council award a contract to
remodel the Recreation and Parks Department offices in City Hall
to Kevin Kraus, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of
$24,990
Background
The Recreation and Parks Department office remodel was approved
as part of City Hall Improvements and consists of relocating
existing wood partitions, walls, counters and entry door to more
efficiently serve the public. It will also enhance the work
environment for the department's personnel
A Notice Inviting Bids was published on April 29 and 30, 1986, in
the Evening Outlook and in five construction journals. The
notice was also sent to six minority business associations
Plans and specifications were issued to two contractors. Bids
were opened and read publicly on May 13, 1986, by the Deputy City
Clerks
Two bids were received as follows:

Engineer's Estimate: $26,500
No minority or women owned firms submitted a bid for this
project.
Kevin Kraus has successfully completed other capital projects for
the City.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Award a contract to remodel the Recreation and Parks
Department offices to Kevin Kraus, the lowest responsible
bidder, in the amount of $24,990; and
2. Authorize the City Engineer to issue any change orders
necessary to complete additional work to the extent of funds
available in accordance with the Administrative Instruction
on Change Orders.
