12egarding: Maria Y. Iiernandez's resignation as a member of the
Social Services Commission
.Dear City Clerk,
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my resignation as a
member ofthe Social Services Commission effective 7/24/07. My
resignation is connected to my return as a full-time student in the
fall and need for relocation.l will be commencing a graduate
program starting next montl} at lJC Berkeley.
I thank the City of Santa Monica for the wonderful opportunity to
join this commission and participate in numerous volunteer events,
to loam more of the needs of the residents that I live and work
with, for the opportunity to work with the dedicated philanthropist
that form the commission, and far the ability to meet the Major and
other city staff that visit our commission.
My work with the commission inspired the research interests listed
in my applications for graduate school. Upon the completion of my
program I plan to return to the City of Santa Monica. This is my
home and I plan to return to aid in its growth.
