SR-407-006 (13) . ~C?-OOG · HA-/ MAY 26 1987 C/ED:HD:JG:jt Housing Authority Meeting 5/26/87 Santa Monica, California TO: Housing Authority FROM: city staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Adopt Resolution Authorizing Ex- ecution of Amended Annual Contributions Contract for the section 8 Housing Certificate Program INTRODUCTION This reports transmits for adoption a Resolution approving the amended Annual contributions contract for the section 8 Housing Certificate Program and authorizing the Executive Secretary to execute the Contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Ur- ban Development. ..,.... BACKGROUND The Housing Authority initially entered into an Annual Contribu- tions Contract (ACC) with the U.S. Department of Housing and Ur- ban Development (HUD) in 1976 for the Section 8 Housing Assis- tance payments. Program. The Ace is amended from time-to-time to extend its term, include new allocations for additional units, or reflect changes made in the bedroom-size distribution of existing allocations. The ACe is being amended at this time both to extend its term by two years to June 30, 1989, and to reflect a redistribution of - 1 - NA../ MAY 2 6 1987 . . housing certificates. Forty-seven (47) 2-bedroom housing cer- tificates were redistributed to the I-bedroom and 3-bedroom cat- egories in order to provide section 8 subsidies to the large num- ber of households waiting for assistance in those categories. The Housing commission of the city of Santa Monica reviewed the amended ACC and the attached resolution authorizing its execution at its May 21, 1987 meeting. FINANCIAL/BUDGETARY IMPACT The administration of the section 8 Program is handled by the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA) under a Cooperation Agreement between HACoLA and the Housing Authority of the city of Santa Monica. Pursuant to the Agreement, all program ~ funds under the ACC are paid by HUD directly to the Housing Au- thority of the County of Los Angeles for program administration. There is no financial or budgetary impact anticipated as a result of this action. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Housing Authority adopt the attached resolution approving the amended Part I of Section 8 Housing Cer- tificate Program ACC No. SF-520 and authorizing its execution.
