Resolution of the City council Declaring Its
Intention to Change the Names of Third street
Mall, Mall Court West, and Mall Court East
At its meeting on April 26, 1988, the city council directed
the City Attorney to prepare a resolution of intention to legally
adopt new street and alley names in the vicinity of the Third
Street Mall.
In response to this direction, the accompanying
resolution has been prepared and is presented to the City council
for its consideration.
The accompanying resolution sets a public hearing for
September 13, 1988, and declares the intention of the City
council of the city of Santa Monica to change the name of Third
street Mall between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard to Third
street Promenade and to change the name of the alleys parallel to
the Third street Promenade which run between Broadway and
Wilshire Boulevard as follows: the current Mall Court West is to
be renamed "Second Court," and the current Mall Court East is to
be renamed "Third Court."

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
resolution be adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
CHANGE THE NAMES OF THE THIRD STREET MALL, MALL
COURT WEST, AND MALL COURT EAST
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The city council of the City of santa Monica
hereby declares its intention to change the name of the street
currently named "The Third street Mall," which runs on a-
north-south line between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard in the
City of Santa Monica, to "Third street Promenade."
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby declares its intention to change the name of the alley
currently named "Mall Court West I If which runs on a north-south
line between Broadway and wilshire Boulevard in the City of Santa
Monica, to "Second Court.u
SECTION 3. The city council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby declares its intention to change the name of the alley
currently named "Mall Court East, If which runs on a north-south
line between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard in the City of Santa
Monica, to "Third Court. II

SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publ ish
this Resolution in the Evening outlook on two successive dates,
the first publication of which is to be made not less than
fifteen (15) days prior to the date of the pUblic hearing.
SECTION s.
The hour of 7:30 p.m. of the 13th day of
September, 1988, in the City council Chambers of City Hall, Santa
Monica, California, be and the same hereby is fixed as the time
and place when and where all persons interested in or objecting
to the proposed street and alley name changes may appear before
the City council and offer evidence in relation thereto.
SECTION 6. The City Manager of the City of Santa Monica
hereby is directed to cause Notices of street Name Change to be
posted along the affected street and alleys and to notify the
owners and tenants of property along Third street Mall, Mall
Court East, and Mall Court West of the proposed name changes and
public hearing.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
