Resolution of the City Council Changing
the Names of Santa Monica Mall, Mall Court
West, and Mall Court East
At its meeting on August 9, 1988, the City council noticed
a pUblic hearing for September l3, 1988, concerning its intention
to legally adopt new street and alley names in the vicinity of
the Santa Monica Mall.
The accompanying resolution changes the name of Santa
Monica Mall between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard to Third
Street Promenade and changes the name of the alleys parallel to
the Third street Promenade which run between Broadway and
wilshire Boulevard as follows: the current Mall Court West is
renamed "Second Court," and the current Mall Court East is
renamed "Third Court.t1
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Council open
the public hearing, hear any protests concerning the name
changes, and adopt the accompanying resolution.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA CHANGING THE NAMES OF THE
SANTA MONICA MALL, MALL COURT
WEST, AND MALL COURT EAST
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the city of Santa Monica
hereby changes the name of the street currently named liThe Santa
Monica Mall, II which runs on a north-south line between Broadway
and Wilshire Boulevard in the city of Santa Monica, to llThird
street Promenade."
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby changes the name of the alley currently named ItMall Court
West, II which runs on a north-south line between Broadway and
wilshire Boulevard in the city of Santa Monica, to IISecond
Court. II
SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby changes the name of the alley currently named "Mall Court
East," which runs on a north-south line between Broadway and
Wilshire Boulevard in the City of Santa Monica, to "Third Court. II

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
