INTRODUCTION
The purpose of thlS report is to recommend adoptlon of a resolu-
tlon extendlng the tlme perlod for exerclSlng the Certlflcate of
Approprlateness for the demolltlon of the Parkinson House, a Clty
Landmark at 1605 San Vlcente for an addltlonal tlffie perlod of 180
days.
BACKGROUND
On November 12, 1985, follow~ng a publlC hearlng, the C~ty Coun-
ell approved a motlon directlng the Clty Attorney to prepare an
Emergency Ordlnance grantlng the Cl ty Councll, after recelving
the recommendatlon of the Landmarks Commlsslon, the authorlty to
adopt a resolutlon to extend the perlod of time durlng which a
Cert~flcate of Appropr~ateness must be executed.
On December 9, 1985, the Landmarks Commisslon wlll be ho1dlng a
Speclal Meetlng to conslder a motlon recommendlng that the Clty
Counell adopt a resolutlon to extend the Certlfleate of Appropr~-
ateness time period for the demolltlon of the Parklnson House at
1605 San Vlcente Boulevard for an addltlonal 180 days commenclng

on December 18, 1985 and explrlng on June 16, 1986.
Conslder-
atlon of this motlon by the Landmarks CommlSSlon is based on the
fact that the property has been sold and whlle the new owner in-
tends to demollsh the house, he has been approached by an indl-
vldual who would llke to relocate the house to another slte.
ThlS extenslon would
lnsure the bUlldlng's contlnued preserva-
tlon whlle the lnterested partles assemble the resources for the
bUlldlng 's relocatlon and flle the requlred Certlflcate of Ap-
proprlateness for the bUlldlng' s relocatlon.
A re sol ution ex-
tendlng the tlme perlod will be dlstrlbuted to Councll at the
December 10th Counell meeting after reeelving the recommendatlon
of the LandAarks CommlSSlon.
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
The recommendatlon contalned 1n this report does not have a
budget/flnanclal lmpact on the City.
RECOMMENDATION
It lS respectfully recommended that the Cl ty Cauncll accept the
recommendatlon of the Landmarks CommlSSlon as approved at thelr
December 9th Spec1al Meetlng.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOli1S :
SECTION 1 The City Counc~l extends the t~me per~od for
exercis~ng Cert~flcate of Appropriateness LC-17-029-l for the
demolltlon of the Parkinson House for an addltional 180 days.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certlfy to the
adopt~on of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be ~n full force and effect.
