RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CERTIFYING
THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT ON
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SANTA MONICA BAY INN PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Clty Planning Commission certlfled a Final
Environmental Impact Report and approved Development Review 098
for a four-story, 299-room hotel at 1700 Ocean Avenue on
June 20, 1985i and
WHEREAS, on November 12, 1984, Development ReVlew 291, an
application to amend Development Review 098 was submitted; and
WHEREAS, Notice of Completion of a Draft Supplemental
Environmental Impact Report was published on February 13, 1985,
in compllance with the California Environmental Quality Act; and
WHEREAS, a public review period expired on March 21, 1985;
and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 1985, the completion of the Final
Supplemental Environmental Impact Report on the proposed project,
conslstlng of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report,

comments on the document,
and responses to comments was
certlfied: and
WHEREAS, on Aprll 15, 1985, the City Plannlng Commlssion
conducted
a
du ly
noticed
public
hearing
on
the
Final
Supplemental EIR and the proposed proJect; and
WHEREAS, by fallure to adopt a motion on the matter the
Plannlng Commlssion denled the proJect without pre)Udlce: and
WHEREAS, on April 16, 1985, the Planning Commisslon's actlon
was appealed to the Clty Councll: and
WHEREAS, on May 21, 1985, the Clty Councll conducted a
publicly notlced hearing on the Flnal Supplemental Envlronmental
Impact Report and the proposed project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The City Council of the City of Santa Monlca
does hereby certify that the Final Supplemental Environmental
Impact Report on the proposed Redevelopment of the Santa Monlca
Bay Inn property (Development Review 291 and Z .A. 4880-A) has
been
completed
in
full
compllance
with
the
Californla
Environmental Quality Act, the State Envlronmental Impact Report
<
Guidellnes, and the City of Santa Monica CEQA Guidellnes, and
that it has revlewed and considered the contents of the Flnal
Supplemental EIR ln lts declsion-making process.

SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of
th~s Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
~n full force and effect.
