Please state the specific reason(s) lor the appeal The specific reasons for the appeal are as under:-
1) Signs put up prior to the Sign Ordinance of 1985 will have the opportunity to
apply for a variance.
~ (lar sign was put up in mid-1984. Payment to Local Neon Sign was J11::J.de on 07/01/84
lor an amount of $11,012.00. as per our records.
~) Our Neon sign was put up at a height of 60 feet on the Southern side of the building
and it would be visible only at that height for the incoming traffic going on t~
North side of Ocean Avenue.
4) If the Neon sign is lowered at 20 feet level, it will be covered by the trunks of palm
trees in between. What is the purpose of putting up a sign which perpetually remains
covered and invisible?
5) Shangri-La Hotel is a historic landmark since 1939 and as such, we should be given an
exemption. Our sign is not an eye-sore or distracting. but beautiful. It merges into
the art deco design of the entire building and is not protruding or free standing, as
the Georgian Hotel's roof sign.
