Introductlon
ThlS report transmlts the attached ordlnance for
second readlng and adoptlon.
Background
The Clty Councll lntroduced the attached ordlnance
for flrst readlng and held a publlC hearlng thereon at lts
meetlng of March 28, 1978. The attached ordlnance has been
amended ln conformlty wlth Cauncll dlrectlon at sald meetlng,
to exempt restaurants of flfty (50) seats or less from the
requlrement of one (1) parklng space for every flve (5) seats.
The ordlnance requlres restaurants contalnlng marc than
flfty (50) seats to provlde one parklng space for every flve
(5) seats. Coples of the preVlOUS staff reports are attached
hereto for lnformatlon purposes.
Alternatlve Solutions
The alternatlves are. to adopt the attached ordlnance
as submltted, or to modlfy the same.

1mp1ementlng the recommendatlon of the Plannlng CommlSSlon
submltted to the Clty Councll at ltS meetlng of March 14,
1978.
Background
The recommendatlon of the Plannlng CONID1SS10n
was to change the parklng requlrements for restaurants
from the present one space per three hundred square feet
to one space per flve seats. The attached ordlnance makes
that change In Sect10n 9129F(1) (3) of the Santa Monlca
Munlclpal Code. A copy of the prevlous staff report 1S
attached hereto for lnformatlon purposes.
