BACKGROU.'JD
In May, 1980, the Clty Councll referred a pro~osed
Adult Use Ordinance to the Plannlng COffiTI1SS10n for hearlng and
recOmI:lendatlon.
The ordlnar..ce vlOuld ~ernlt "adult uses" only
In the C-] and C-4 Dlstrlcts; w~thln those dlstr1cts, adul~ uses
would be ?rOhlblted wlthln 500 feet of any church, publlC or
0rlvate school or college, park, playground, or resldentlally-
zoned area, or wlthln 1,000 feet of another adult use. The
oralnance deflnes adult uses as lncludlng ten partlcular types
of establ15hments e~pl~aslzlng nspeclflec. sexual conduct" or
"5peCL:1ed anato!!ucal areas;" an addl tlonal category 15 establlshed
for those uses found by the ~lannlng Con~lSSlon to be slffillar to
the enumerated ty~es of use.
A publlC hearlng was held on June 2, 1980 and referred
to Staff for ~urther evaluat1on.

2. The deslgnatlon of l1adult <:lodel studlOS" as adult
uses would be deleted.
3. Accredlted educatlonal 1nstltutlons, legltlDate
theaters, and ~otlon plcture productlon studlOS would be exeMpted.
4. The Geflnltlon of adult uses as lncluQlng actlVlties
