Ordinance Exempting certain Non-Profit
Theatre Facilities from ordinance
Number 1634 (CCS)
At its meeting on July 21, 1992, the city council
introduced for first reading an ordinance exemptlng certain
non-profit theatre facilities from Ordinance Number 1634 (CCS).
The ordinance is now presented to the city Councll for adoption.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ordinance be adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COm{CIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA EXEMPTING CERTAIN NON-PROFIT THEATRE
FACILITIES FROM ORDINANCE NUMBER 1634 (CCS)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Appl1cat1ons for approval of non-profit theatre
facillties deslgned speclflcally for stage production and related
educational and administratlve actlvlties and located ln the
Downtown overlay C3C zoning district, which will occupy 25,000 or
less square feet, are exeMpt from the prov1slons of Ordinance
Number 1634 (CCS) pursuant to Section 3 of such Ordinance,
provided such proJects obtaln a development review permlt.
SECTION 2.
Any provislon of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code or append1ces thereto 1ncons1stent with the provlsions of
this Ordinance, to the extent of such lnconsistencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary
to effect the provisions of this Ord1nance.
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsect10nl sentence, clause,
or phrase of this Ordinance 1S for any reason held to be invalld
or unconstitutional by a deC1Slon of any court of any competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validlty of the

The city Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this Ordinance, and each and
every sectlon, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not
declared invalid or unconstl tutlonal ~vi thout regard to whether
any portion of the Ordlnance would be subsequently declared
invalid or unconst~tutlonal.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall sign and the city Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this Ordinance.
The City clerk shall
cause the same to be publ1shed once 1n the official newspaper
within 1.5 days after lts adoption.
ThlS Ordlnance shall become
effective after 30 days from lts adoption.
