SUBJECT: Ordinance Repealing Certain Sections of the
Santa Monica Municipal Code to Prohlb1t
Parking and Comrnerclal Uses In Various Dlstricts
At its meeting on September 1, 1981, the C1ty Counc1l
introduced for first read1ng an ordlnance repealing certa1n
sect10ns of the Santa Monlca Municipal Code to prohibit
parklng and commerclal uses in various districts. The
ordlnance lS now presented to the City Council for adoption.
RECOMMENDATION
It lS respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ord1nance be adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REPEALING
SECTIONS 9112A4, 9129E, 9131, 9131A,
9131B, 9131C, 9131D, 9131E, 9131F, 9131G,
9131H, 91311, 9147, 9147A, 9147B, 9147C,
AND 9147D OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE
(Prohibitlng parklng and commerclal uses in various
di s t r i c t s )
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sections 9112A4, 9129E, 9131, 9131A, 9131B,
9131C, 9131D, 9131E, 9131F, 9131G, 9131H, 91311, 9147, 9147A,
9147B, 9147C, and 9147D of the Santa Monica Municipal Code
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent with the provis~ons
of th~s ordinance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and
no further, 1S hereby repealed or modified to that extent
necessary to affect the provis1ons of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordlna~ce is for any reason held to
be lnvalid or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of
competent jurlsdiction, such decision shall not affect the
val~d~ty of the remainlng portions of the ordinance. The
C~ty Council hereby declares that it would have passed this

ordlnance and each and every section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase not declared invalld or unconstitutlonal
without regard to whether any portion of the ordinance would
be subsequently declared invalid or unconstitut1onal.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of thlS ordlnance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be publ1shed once ln the
offlcial newspaper withln 15 days after its adoption. The
ordinance shall become effectlve 30 days from lts adoption.
