Ordinance Amending Ordinance Number 1486 (CCS)
to Extend Program 10 of the Housing Element to
Apply to Conversions and Changes of Use as Well
as Demolitions
SUBJECT:
At its meeting of April 10, 1990, the city council directed
the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance which interprets
Program 10 of the Housing Element and its successor program to
require replacement housing units in any instance involving the
removal of multifamily residential rental units, whether the
removal is caused by demolition or conversion to other uses. In
response to this direction, the accompanying ordinance has been
prepared and is presented to the City council for its
consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ordinance be introduced for first reading.
