Introduction
Ibis staff report requests Council pennission to turn on the balance of the
parking lot lights in the 1550 beach lot, inInedi.ately north of the Santa }bnica
Pier.
Background
With the advent of the energy crisis in 1973, Council instructed staff to reduce
the lighting on city streets and the beach parking lots. Recently Council
.
aurhorized staff to return to full lighting on certain major streets within the
C~ty of Santa Honica. The lighting in the 1550 lot nortb of the Santa Honica
Pier is still at the rEduced level. Because of the police problems that exist
in this lot, it is requested that Council authorize the turning on of all the
lights in this lot.
Recarmendation
Staff recarmends Council authorize the staff to turn on lights in the 1550
lot to ['lleviate crinE problems in this beach parking lot.
