SUBJECT: Appropriation of additlonal funds for Beach Parking Lot
Security Gates.
Introduction
This report requests addlt10nal funds for the 1nstallation of security
gates 1n the Beach Parklng lot at the foot of Ocean Park Blvd.
Background
On June 22, 1982, Council approved the installatlon of security gates
in the Beach Parking lot at the foot of Ocean Park Blvd. and appropriated
$6500 from the unappropriated reserve of the Beach F~nd. On August 10, 1982,
Council waived bids and authorized the Manager to negotiate a contract for
the gates.
Durlng negotlat1ons with the contractor, it was dlscovered that staff's
orlginal estimate was lncorrect. An additional $3500 15 requlred to complete
the work. It should be noted that even with the addit10nal funds, the
total negotiated price is 30% less than the formal bid price of 1~ years ago,
when similar gates were 1nstalled in other beach parking lots.
RecolW1endatlon
Staff recommends Counc11 appropriate an addltional $3500 fro~ unapproprlated
reserves 1n the Beach Fund and transfer it to Acco~nt #11-400-521-000-901.
