SR-307-002-01-01 ~~- . Santa Monica, cal~forni~ 100/3 Apr~l 28, 1980 TO: Mayor and City CouncIl yor-t::>o-z.-o'..../?/MAY 13'980 FROM: CIty Staff SUBJECT: Change of parkIng fees at the C~v~c AudItorium Introduction This report concerns a proposal to ~ncrease parking fees at the C~VIC Aud~tor~um by amend~ng Section 6 of ResolutIon 3579 (CCS) and requests City Counc~l approve the proposed amendment as subIJ1itted. Background In July of 1978 parking fees at the Civic Audltor~um were ~ncreased to 51.50. In addlt~on to beIng inconsistent w~th other recreational parkIng ~n the area which ~s currently at $2.00, th~s fee has proved to be an awkward sum for purposes of collectIon resulting in longer lInes at the park~ng lot entrance. PrO]ectlons for FY 1979-1980 are 69,000 cars or-$103,500 at $1.50. If the recreatlona1 parklng rate remains at $2.00 th~s would mean FY 1980-1981 revenue w~th an equal number of cars would be $138,000 or an increase of $34,500. Recommendat~on Staff recommends the City Council approve a maximum fee of $3.00 per automobl1e. It is Staff's intention to maintain parkIng fees on a level with other recreational parkIng fees in the area (currently $2.00). Council recently approved a maXImum of $3.00 for the Beach parklng lots and Staff feels the Auditor~um should have the same latitude. Prepared by: Gary Ferguson h.D 8 MAY 1 3 1GP,O '- ~ . h) ..
