This organIzatIon has hIred off-duty Los Anaeles polIce off1cers, In addit10n to contractual securIty normally ordered through the AudItorium, for all its past events. Because of several thefts at the last party held 1n Santa Mon1ca, SHARE has requested the City prov1de unIformed officers for the 1980 event. SHARE has also requested the standard kitchen use fees, which are 7~% of food serVIce and 20% of lIquor service, be waived. Every caterer who in the past has used the Aud1tor1um kitchen and Its lIm~ted, but operatIonal, equipment (includIng those contracted for by SHARE) has had to supplement w1th spec1al warming ovens to 1nsure adequate service. Staff has already made several concessions with regard to commercIal fees normally charged and serVIces normally avaIlable to charitable organlza- tlons. Any valet park~ng serVIce used by SHARE could easily be lnstructed to lnltiate security precautlons and warned of the dangers encountered at the last event in Santa Monlca. The Santa MonIca PolIce Department will alert Its patrol units of the event and patrol periodIcally when possIble. RecommendatIon Staff reco~ends Council deny the special requests by SHARE, Inc.
