Introduction
ThlS lS a report regarding the fee charqed by the ciVIC Audl-
torlum for closing the snack bars for certaIn events at the
CIVIC when requested to do so by the permIttee. It reco~ends
a way of adJustIng this fee for certain non-profIt and chari-
table organizations when these organizatIons have held similar
previous events at the C1VIC Audltorlum.
Background
Pursuant to a letter from Mr. Jlm Berland, General Manager of
radio statIon KPFK, a meetlng was held regardlna the fee
charged for closing the snack bars at theIr annual Chrlstmas
Falre. The purpose for the fee is to offset revenue to the
City WhICh will be lost as a result of the snack bar closlng.
The fee, therefore, IS based on an average snack bar lncome
per event. In soroe cases a ~ore accurate incowe for a specifIC
event can be deterwlned If the event has been held ln prevlous
years. It ~s the request of KPFK that thlS amount be determlned
and they be charged only that portion of the awount which would
be net revenue to the City. Thls has been determlned to be

50% during F Y 1978-79. Staff has no obJections to thIS
manner of determinIng the fee for non-profit and charltable
organlzatlons.
Recom~endation

recognIzed charitable organizations which have held a slwllar
event in the past 24 months be 50% of the ~ross sales for the
preVIOUS event plus a cpr adJustment.
