SUBJECT: Recommendation to Extend the Term of the Agreement with
David Gordon to Install a Mural on the park Boulevard
Underpass at Fourth Street
Introduction
This report recommends that Council approve a six-month extension
of the city's agreement (No. 4219) with David Gordon to install
his proposed mural on the north side of the Ocean Park Boulevard
underpass at Fourth street.
Background
On September 11, 1984, Council approved the recommendations of
the Arts commission concerning the final disposition of the un-
finished mural on the north wall of the Ocean Park Boulevard un-
derpass at Fourth street. One of these recommendations was that
the city enter into an agreement with David Gordon to install his
proposal for a mural on this wall. This agreement, No. 4219,
became effective for one year commencing on November 30, 1984.
since that time, Mr. Gordon has been working diligently to com-
plete this mural under the terms of his agreement. City staff

the artist by the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation of Art. No
additional expenses would be incurred by the City.
Recommendation
City Staff, with the support of the Arts commission, recommends
that Council approve a six-month extension of Agreement No. 4219
with David Gordon to install his proposed mural on the north side
of the Ocean Park Boulevard underpass at Fourth street.
