RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE SANTA MONICA COLLEGE
CINCO DE MAYO FIREWORKS DISPLAY
INTRODUCTION
This report recommends that the City Council approve Santa Monica
College's r~quest for fireworks for their May 5, 1990, Cinco de
Mayo Program.
DISCUSSION
At its meeting of October 11, 1983, the City Council established
the policy that, aside from the municipally sponsored Fourth of
July fireworks, Council approval would be required for special
fireworks events.
For its Cinco de Mayo program on Saturday, May 5, 1990, Santa
Monica college would like to have a fifteen-minute fireworks
display in conjunction with the festivities in the Santa Monica
College Stadium.
The Cinco de Mayo Program is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m. in the Concert Hall, with fireworks scheduled from 8:15 p.m.

to 8:30 p.m. in the Stadium. pyro-Spectacular will provide the
display as a finale to the Cinco de Mayo celebration.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no budgetary/financial impact with this request. Santa
Monica College will pay all related inherent costs.
RECOMMENDATION
staff recommends that City Council approve Santa Monica College's
request for fireworks for the Cinco de Mayo celebration on
Saturday, May 5, 1990.
