SUBJECT:
INTRODUCTION
This report recommends that the City Council approve Santa Monica
College's request to conduct their annual pre-Fourth of July
fireworks program for the community called "Celebrate America. II
DISCUSSION
At its regularly scheduled meeting of October 11, 1983, the City
Council established the policy that, aside from the City
sponsored Fourth of July fireworks, Council approval would be
required for special fireworks events.
For the past several years, Santa Monica College has conducted an
evening program for the community on July 3rd entitled "Celebrate
America. II
This program is held in the Santa Monica College
Stadium and includes a fireworks display. This program normally
attracts 3,000 - 5,000 people.
Ci ty Staff recommends that the city Council approve the use of
fireworks by Santa Monica College this year so that they may
provide their popular traditional program.
