This staff report requests Council approval of the worklng drawings and speclficatlons
for the community building at Virglnia Avenue Park, and authorizat1on to call for
bids to construct the bU1ldlng.
Background
At the April 8, 1980 meeting, under 1tem 6AA, Council approved the schematic drawing
for th1S building with the additlon of solar heating capabilities. ThlS change has
been incorporated ln the worklng drawings and the specificatlons.
The build1ng has been approved by the Recreation and Parks Commission and the
Architectural Review Board.
Included in the building are a general meetlng room, kitchen, office and restrooms. The
bU1ld1ng is approximately 5500 square feet. The 1nitial est1mate was $330.000. Council
approved $355,000 1n the 1980-81 budget. The architect estimates that an inflation
factor of 1 percent per month could increase the construction costs above the estimate.
The plans and specifications are available 1n the Recreation and Park Director's
offlce and wlll be available at the Councll meeting for Council's reV1ew.
Recommendation
Staff recommends Council approve the plans and spec1flcations as submitted and authorize
the call for b1ds to construct the community building at Vlrginia Ave. Park.
