requests of Susan Taylor, Linda de Mart~nez, Dorice Kennerly, Jul~e
Malanaphy, Lesl~e Labow~tz and Maryka Collins to address The Council
to d~scuss fenclng of tot area at Ozone Park. Dorice Kennerly and
Linda Martinez spoke to request that a four s~ded fence be installed
around the tot area at Ozone Park to protect children from wandering
~nto traff~c. D1SCUSS1on was held. Councilmember Epstein moved to
direct staff to ~ove swiftly to present Councll wlth a proposal for
deal~ng w~th the problem and to request the Recreatlon and Parks
Comm~sslon to make recommendat~ons. Second by Councilmember Zane.
D~SCUSSlon was held. Counc~lmember Conn moved a subst~tute motion
direct~ng staff to bUlld a fence as fast as It can be bu~lt. Second
by Mayor Pro Tempore Press. D1Scuss~on was held. Counc~lmember
Epste1n moved an amendment to the subsitute motlon to approve an
appropr~at1on of up to $3,000 in contingency funds wlthin the
Community Development Block Grant for construct1on of a four sided
fence aound the tot lot area at Ozone Park. Second by Councllmember
Zane. After d1sCUSS1on, the substitute mot1on, as amended, was
approved by the following vote:
Counc11 Vote: Unanimously approved 7-0
