In the current Park D1V1Slon budget, $15,000 1S approprlated for the flrst
phase renovatlon of the llncoln Park tot lot. The play area is very heavlly
used by small ch1ldren. The eX1st1ng play area has 11m1ted and outdated

rectangle, 65 ft. x 120 ft.. bounded by chalnllnk fence on three sldes.
It contalns sWlngs. a sllde, and two metal cl1mbers.
In the proposed deslgn, staff was ass1sted by Landscape Arch1tect, Larry
Ste1nle, and parents of eh11dren attendlng St. Mon1ca's school. The major
concern of the parents 1S to have the area completely fenced. They were
also very helpful In glvlng staff dlrectlon as to the type of equlpment
to be lnstalled.
The features of the proposed plan lnelude the creatlon of a new entry walk
to allow more separatlon from the adJacent basketball court, a terrace
wlth trees, benches, and decorat1ve pavlng wlth low tlmber curb walls.
An eXlstlng covered gateway wlll be converted to an arbor wlth benches.
In the center of the tot lot a hexagonal sand area has been created for
small chlldren's equlpment. SWlngs wll1 be provlded to the easterly slde,
wlth a play structure and 4-way tlre sWlng to the west The entlre area
