Background
The Clty of Santa Mon1ca has been sponsor1ng the Senlor Nutr1t1on and Recreat10n
Progra~ for the past 6 years, each year the C1ty 1S requ1red to subm1t an
appl1cat1on for grant mon1es.

The $78,889 appl1ed for 1n the grant from the Los Angeles Area Agency represents
a 3% reduct10n over the present level funded th1s year due to less Federal
Fund1ng ava1lable th1s com1ng year
The C1ty operates the Nutr1t1on Program at four sltes. L1ncoln Park, Memorlal
Park, the Sen10r Recreatlon Center and V1rg1n1a Park. A food serV1ce company
1S under sub-contract to prov1de 225 hot meals per serv1ng day In addlt1on,
the nutr1t1on van prov1des 6000 un1ts of transportat1on each year - to the
nutrltlon program, grocery store, med1cal appo1ntments and recreat10n act1v1t1es,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A PROPOSAL AND THE
SIGNING OF A CONTRACT FOR PROVIDING SERVICES FOR
ELDERLY PERSONS,
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles Department of Senlor Citlzens
Affa1rs h~s been awarded the funds for prov1d1ng serV1ces for the elderly
under the Older Amer1cans Act;
WHEREAS, the C1ty of Santa Monica w1shes to apply for Older
Amerlcans Act funds for soc1al services in order to adm1n1ster sald servlces; and
WHEREAS. it is necessary that the Clty of Santa Monlca approve
the submlttal of t~e proposal for Older Amer1cans Act funds; and
WHEREAS. it lS necessary that the C1ty of Santa Mon1ca designate
and authorlze a representat1ve to slgn the contract for Older A~ericans
Aet funds on behalf of the sa1d C1ty of Santa Mon1ca,
NOW. THEREFORE, THE tITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOllOWS:
SECTION 1. The C1ty Council of the City of Santa Monlca approves
the submittal of a proposal for Older Amerlcans Act funds.
SECTION 2. The City Counc1l of the City of Santa Monlca designates
the City Manager or 1n hlS absence, the Asslstant City Manager as the author1zed
representat1ve to slgn the contract and all documents necessary to accompany
sa1d contract, 1nclud1ng all amendments to sald contract w1thln the f1scal
year.
SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the adopt10n of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full
force and effect.
