recelved a one-tlme-only funds grant from the Los Angeles Area
Agency on Aglng for $18,309, for the period January I, 1984 -
June 30, 1984. ThlS report requests council approval to
increase appropriatlons ln the amount of $18,309.
Background
On November 14, 1983, the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging
lssued an informatlon memorandum concern1ng the availability of
one-tlme-only funds to be used durlng the period January 1 - June
30, 1984. These funds are available for the above 6-month period
only due tc a change in the State' s fundlng POllCY, They are
classlfied as "one-tlme-only funds" because they can not be
renewed. The nutrltlon proJect dlrector submltted a proposal to
the Los Angeles Area Agency on Aglng for these funds on November
30, 1983; the proposal was subsequently accepted. ThlS money is
lD addltlon to the $109,000 awarded to the Clty for Flscal Year
1983-84. Acceptance of thlS grant requlres no addltional match-
lng funds from the City. The ma]Orlty of funds ($13,984) wl1l
be used to purchase needed equlpment--a nutrltlon van to replace
the elgnt year-old van currently In use, and an IBM selectrlc
typeF~l.ter to replace the current Olyrrpla model. The re-
