SUBJECT: Amendment to EX1stlng Sen10r Nutrit10n Program Funds
Introduction
ThlS report requests the City Counc1l approve the attached resolut1on amend1ng the
Nutrition Program's fiscal year 1980-81 budget.
Background
The C1ty Council authorized C1ty Staff to f1le an appl1cation for funds under the
Older Americans Act for the Nutrit10n Program 1n April 1980. The origlnal amount was
for $138,705. A subsequent budget reV1S1on was made relat1ng to add1t1onal one
time only funds which later became ava1lable from the State for the purchase of
equ1pment which totaled an additional $2,022, A 11st of equ1pment requests was
submitted to the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and was approved. Th1S 1ncluded such
items as the mob1le radlo unit, camera, publ1C address system, resuscitator and other
miscellaneous 1tems. The equipment purchased wlll improve upon the serV1ces offered
the partic1Pants. Total approved grant appllcat10n is now $140,727. An appropriat1on
1S not necessary.
Recommendat1on
It is recommended that the C1ty Counc1l approve the attached resolution and author1ze
the C1ty Manager to amend the original appl1cat1ons and execute contracts related
to the Nutrition Program for the maXlmum obligat1on of 5140,727.

CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE FlUNG
OF AN APPLICATION WITH 'J'HE LOS ANGF.T.F.S COUN'rY
AHEA AGENCY ON AGING FOR AN Al1ENDI1ENT TO THE
NUTRITION PROGltAM FOR THE ELDERLY UNDER
TITLE III OF THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT OF 1965,
AS AMENDED.
w1TF.KEAS, the City of Santa Monica has submlGted an appli-
catlon for amendment of the Nutritlon progrmn for the elderly to the
Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging; and
~rEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is eligible to r8celve
funds under the Older Americans Act for the establlshment of a
Nutrltlon Program for the elderly; and
WHEREAS, the Clty of Santa Monica has received
approval from the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging to
admini~ter the additional one time only funds in the amount of Two
Thousand, Twenty Two ($2,022) Dollars as an amendment to the
existing contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUnCIL OF THE CITY OF S1J~TA
MONICA DOES FF.S\OLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the City Manager, or in h15 absence,
the City Clerk, is authorized to file an application and to execute any
contracts related thereto, on behalf of the City of Santa Monica
with the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging for One Hundred
Forty Thousand, Seven Hundred Twenty Seven ($140,727) Dollars to be
used for a Nutr~tioD Program for the elderly.

The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution, and the~ceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
