DISCUSSION On November 24, 1987, the city Council authorized city staff to submit funding applications for homeless services to the FESG program administered by the California state Department of Housing and Community Development (RCD). city staff was notified by RCD on February 1, 1988 that grant funds in the amount of $115,941 had been awarded to the city of Santa Monica for renovation of a portion of City owned property at 602-620 Colorado Avenue as a 15 bed shelter for mentally ill homeless women and for operating expenses for such a shelter. city Council action is now required to appropriate these grant funds so that work can begin on the renovation of the facility. - 1 - ,..M FEB 2 3 1988 , . . ... BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT Addi tional appropriation authority is requested in the General Fund, Account #01-200-262-723-506 in the amount of $115,941 so that the City may utilize the FESG program funds. The appropriation will be financed by $115,941 in revenue from the FESG Program, Account #20-932-357-000-000. In addition, the following technical appropriations are necessary to transfer these funds from the Miscellaneous Grants Fund to the General Fund: ($115,941) at #01-700-695-000-747 and $115,941 at #20-700-695-000-747. RECOMMENDATION City staff recommends that the City Council approve appropriation authority in the amount of $115,941 at account #01-200-262-723-506, establish revenue account #20-932-357-000-000 in the amount of $115,941, and approve technical appropriation changes of ($115,941) at #01-700-695-000-747 and $115,941 at #20-700-695-000-747.
