SUBJECT: Increase in Bui1dlng & Safety Plan Check
Revenues and Professional Services Accounts
for ~ajor Structure Plan Checks ($50,000)
IHTRCDUC'I'ION
This report transmits a request for an increase of
$50,000 to the 80-81 FY Building & Safety ~lan check revenue
and professional services accounts for processing various
major building permit aunlications and plans.
BACKGROUND
Building & Safety has already issued permits for over
$75,OOO,OOO,~~C of bu~lding projects in 80-81 FY; and an additional
$60,000,000 of applications is now benig checked for code
conforoity by staff and our consultants the International
Conference of Buildlng Officials (ICBO). ~ith the volume of
smaller permits staff has been unable to do the detailed review
on many of the major projects in a reasonable time. It has
been necessary to utilize the ICBO plan check service more
extensively than orieinally planned for and budgeted.
Plan Check fees have already been pald by these
permit applicants to the city and have correq~~fidingly
exceeded the budget revenue estimates fa~ this activity.

RECm1HE!mATION
It is respectfully recomnended that the City Council amend
the City's 80-81 budget by increasing the estimated revenues
in account 01-902-051-000-000 by $50,000 and make the
corresponding appropriation to account 01-200-321-000-506
by $50,000.
