Subject: Increase Park1ng Meter Bagging Fees
Introduction
This report recommends City Council adopt a resolution increasing the fee for the
use of parking meter bags from $2 to $4 per metert per day.
Ba,ckground
The primary users of the parking meter bags are mot1on picture companies or con-
struction firms. The existing $2 fee for the use of the park1ng meter does not
adequately offset the revenue generated by the park1ng meterst and the incon-
venience to the public due to a reduction in the number of available on-street
parking spaces.
Recommendation
It 1S recommended City Council adopt the attached resolution increasing the fee
for the use of parking meter bags from $2 to $4.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA INCREAS ING THE PARKING ~lETER BAG
USAGE FEE.
WHEREAS, the existing fee for tr.e use of parking meter bags does not offset
the revenue generated by the par~ing meters and the inconvenie~ce to the publlC
due to a reduction 1n the number of available on-street ~a~~ing spaces.
~cw, THEREFORE, T~E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI~Y OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. That the City Council authorlze a charge of four (4) dol1ars
per meter per day for the use of parKlng meter bags.
SECTICN 2. T~at any person or group wishing exe~pticn frcm the charges ~1
this resolution may make aoplication through the Parking and Traff1c Engl~eer
for such exemptlons to be approved by the City Council.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of th1S resolution,
and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect.
