SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One (1) New Low Profile Dump Truck, Bid #2248
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new low profile dump truck for the street sweeping Division,
General services Department, in the total amount of $32,209.86,
including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
september 18 and 19, 1989) to furnish and deliver one (1) new low
profile dump truck in accordance with city specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on October 17, 1989.
proposal forms were mailed to ten vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance wi th City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Two proposals were received as fo11ows:
Thorson GMC Buick
$30,879.68
Carmen ita Truck Center
$32,209.86

The bid submitted by Thorson GMC Buick was not responsive because
City specifications requested a low profile truck and they bid a
standard configuration truck.
staff has evaluated the bid from Carmenita Truck Center and finds
it meets City specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the street Sweeping Division, General Services Department,
account number 27-500-442-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
staff recommends that the award of Bid #2248 be made to Carmenita
Truck Center in the total amount of $32,209.86, including appli-
cable tax, as the lowest responsible bidder.
