SUBJECT. Recommendation to Award Bid for Water Meter Boxes,
Bid No. 1669
Introduct~on
This report concerns award of bid for miscellaneous water meter
boxes in the total amount of $16,134.43 including applicable sales
tax. This purchase will be charged to inventory n~~ber 25-955-
200-000-000 (Water Division).
Background
In response to published Notice Inv~t~ng Bids to furnish and
deliver miscellaneous water meter boxes in accordance with
Clty specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on September 22, 1981. Proposal forms were mailed to four
known vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provlslons. Two proposals were
received as noted on the attached schedule. The bid of Western
Water Works is slightly Iowan several items. However,the total
aggregate auount of d~fference is only ~3j.30. Staff calculates
that the cost of one additional purchase order an1 the additional
ad~inistrative routine cost of liason with two vendors rather
than one will be higher than the $35.30 savings.
Recommendation
It is therefore recommended that the award be made to Brooks Pro-
ducts, Inc. Baldwin Park, Callfornia in the total a~ount of
