SUBJECT: Award Bid to Provide Debris Hauling Service, Bid #2898
Introduction
This report recommends award of bid to provide debris hauling service for the Water and
Wastewater Sections of the Environmental and Public Works Management Department, at
specified unit prices, with two one-year renewal options with Saied Trucking Co. The
estimated annual expenditure is $230,000.
Backqround
The Water and Wastewater Sections require professional debris hauling and excavation
services at various job sites and locations within the City. The vendor will respond to
routine requests and emergencies on a 24 hour / 7 days a week basis.
Discussion
In October 2005, the City published Notices Inviting Bids to provide debris hauling service
in accordance with City specifications. Bids were received and publicly opened and read
on November 9, 2005. Bid forms were mailed to thirty-two vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Three bids
were received per Attachment A and were evaluated based on competitive pricing, annual
usage, responsiveness to bid requirements, and references. Based upon these criteria,

Saied Trucking Co. is the best company to provide the required services.
Since Fiscal Year 2005/2006 has begun, the estimated expenditure for the remainder of
the fiscal year will be $161,000.
Budqet/Financiallmpact
Funds are available for the amount of $161 ,000 as follows:

. $12,500 in account 31661.544010
. $12,500 in account 31661.566630
. $10,000 in account 25671.566380
Budget authority for the subsequent years will be included in each annual proposed City
budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that Bid 2898 be awarded to Saied Trucking Co. at specified unit prices,
with two one-year renewal options, as the best bidder.
