SUBJECT: Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Aluminum Rims for Transit Coaches, Bid
#2886
Introduction
This report recommends award of bid to furnish and deliver aluminum rims for transit
coaches for the Big Blue Bus Department, in the total amount of $284,000.80, including
applicable sales tax and freight.
Background
The aluminum rims are replacements for worn, cracked, and damaged rims consistent with
the type of rims on recently purchased transit coaches.
Discussion
In January 2005, the City published Notices Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver aluminum
rims in accordance with City specifications. Bids were received and publicly opened and
read on February 8, 2005. Bid forms were mailed to thirty-nine vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Eight bids
were received as follows:

Staff has evaluated the bid submitted by A-Z Bus Sales, Inc. and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Budget authority for this purchase is in the Capital Improvement Budget account number
C410106.589000, “Bus Components”.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2886 be made to A-Z Bus Sales, Inc. as the best
bidder, in the total amount of $284,000.80, including applicable sales tax and freight.
