Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for Janitorial Paper Supplies
for the period November I, 1981 through October 31, 1982 at the
unit prices quoted. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted
in various expense accounts in various departments and divisions
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver janitorial paper supplies in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on October 20, 1981. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-
one vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Seven proposals were
received as shown on the attached schedule Bids on items No,
1,2,3,4, and 6 can be awarded on a straight low bid basis. Gale
Supply CO. 's bid on item no 5 is the only bid on the item which
meets City specifications. Bids on item 7 were estimates only on
Cull Roll tissue. This item should be awarded to Zellerbach Pap2
Co. since the cost of an additional purchase order to Noland
Paper would exceed the savings potential.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Stanley Paper Co Or
Items 1,2 and 3, Zellerbach Paper Co. on items 4 and 7; and Ga
Supply Co. on items S,6A,6B, as the lowest and best bidders
in each case
