Recommendation to Award Bid for Treated Lumber
Bid if 1676
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for treated lumber for the
Pier in the total amount of $152,882.70 including applicable
sales tax. Funds for this purchase are available in account
numbers 30-400-622-000-322 and 30-400-622-000-902
Ba.ckground
In response to published ~otice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver treated lumber ~n accordance with City specifications,
bids were received and publ~cly opened and read on October 22, 1981
Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-five lumber dealers and
not~ces were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. Eight proposals were received as
noted on the attached schedule.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to
A. Southwest Forest Industries Inc., 200 N. Willow Industry,
California in the total amount of $63,994.32 including tax, as
the lowest and best bidder on items one and two
B Gemini Forest Products P.O. Box 105, Los Alamitos, California,
in the total amount of $79,754 40 including tax, as the lowest
and best bidder on item three,
C. Can-Cal Mills P.O. Box 6510, San Bernardino, California in the
total amount of $9,133,98 including tax, as the lowest and
best bidder on item four, and that Council authorize transfer
of $28,083.70 from account if 30-400-622-000-902 into Account #
30-400-622-000-322.
