SUBJECT Recommendation to award bid for a Four Door Volkswagon
Rabbit Diesel Automobile. Bid No. 1704.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for a new 1981 four door
Volkswagon Rabbit diesel automobile in the total amount of
$7,690.00 including applicable sales tax. Funds for this
purchase may be transferred from account number 01-100-202-
100 (City Manager-Salary)
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver one four door diesel Vo1kswagon Rabbit in accordance with
City specifications, bids were rece~ved and publicly opened and
read November 24, 1981. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-
f~ve dealers and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provisions Three proposals were
recelved as shown on the attached schedule.
Recormnendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Russ Thor, Inc.,
Torrance California, in the total amount of $7,690.00, including
tax, as the lowest and best bidder. It is further recommended
that the City Council author~ze the transfer of $7,690.00 from
Account # 01-100-202-100 (City 11anager Salary) to Account #
01-100-202-801 (City Manager-Capital Equipment)
