Request to Award One Additional Vehicle under Bid
No. 1688.
Introduction
This report requests Council authorize the purchase of one
additional one-half ton van vehicle under Bid No. 1688. Funds
for this purchase are available in Account No. 11-400-521-000-802
(Beach Maintenance)
Background
Two one-half ton vans were budgeted in the/Re~r~~tion~n~Parks I
current budget. These vans have usually been available at the
most favorable cost through the State of California Cooperative
Bid process. One of the department's vans became inoperat~ve
early in the fiscal year necessitating procurement prior to the
availab~lity of a van through the State contract. Bid No. 1688
was promulgated and awarded in November 1981 for one van. It was
anticipated that the other needed van ..mu1d be available later in
the fiscal year at a better price through the StateB Cooperative
Bid.
The State received no bids on this particular van specificat~on this
year. As a consequence this request ~s necessary to fill the need
by the department.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Council authorize the procurement of
one additional van under Bid No. 1688 (copy attachew from Claude
Short Dodge, Santa Monica, California, in the total amount
of $7,625.00, including tax, as the lowest and best bidder
