Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and install sW1ng gate
and control mechanism in the total amount of $11,376.85 lncluding applicabl
sales tax. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account
number 27-500-441-000-801 (General Services)

In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 2-22-82) to furnisl
and install a gate and control mechanism in accordance with City
specificat1ons, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on March 16, 1982 Proposal forms were mailed to nineteen vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance wlth City Charter
and Municipal Code provisions One proposal was received from
Parking Facilities Equipment Corporation in the amount of $11,376.85
including applicable taxes. A proposal from L.M.W. Engineering
Corporation was not accepted since it was delivered twenty minutes after
the publ1c readlng of Bid No. 1716. Staff has investigated the sole
bid. The equ1pment offered meets specificatlon and excells
the control mechanism offered in that the control is more maintenance
free and versatile for future use than what is spec~fied.

It is recommended that the award be made to Parking Faci11tles Equipment
Corporation. Van Nuys, California in the total amount of $11,376.85,
including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
