Recommendation to Award Bid for Transmission Parts

Introduction
Th~s report concerns award of bid for mlscellaneous transmission
parts at unit prices Ilsted for the period July 1, 1982
through June 30, 1983. Pending approval of the Flscal 1982-83
budget, funds for this purchase w~ll be available in the
inventory account. (Transportation)
Background
In response to publlshed Notice Inviting Blds (published 4-25-82)
to furnish and deliver miscellaneous bus transmiSSlon parts
in accordance wlth City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on May 11, 1982. Proposal forms
were mailed to ten vendors and notices were advertlsed in
accordance wlth City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Three proposals were received as follows
BIDDER BID
Graham Brake & Diesel GMC dealer net plus 2%
S & J Chevrolet Distributor cost plus 20%
Korody Colyer Corporation Fleet price less 15% with
10% increase 9/1/82
Since this request for quotation ~s designed to anticipate
the satisfaction of future emergency needs created by
transmission ~allures, where immediate avai1ablllty is
essential, acceptance of all three proposals would allow
the City maximum coverage of these needs
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Graham Brake & Diesel,
Chatsworth, Californla, S & J Chevrolet, Cerritos, California,and
Korody Colyer's Corporation, Wilmington, California,at the
terms offered for the period July 1, 1982 through June 30, 1983
as the best bidders for these needs
