SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Paints and Paint Supplies, Bid #2104
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver miscel-
laneous paints and paint supplies for a one year period at
specified unit prices plus applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published April
17,18, 1987) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous paints and
paint supplies in accordance with city specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on April 28, 1987. Pro-
posal forms were mailed to three vendors and notices were adver-
tised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code provi-
sions. Two proposals were received as follows:
A. COST OF A REPRESENTATIVE ARRAY OF PAINTS AND PAINT SUPPLIES
DUNN EDWARDS CORPORATION - $24/707.05
SINCLAIR PAINT COMPANY
- $26,514.67
Both bids meet or exceed the bid specifications. staff has re-
viewed the bids and finds Dunn Edwards Corporation is the lowest
and best bidder.

Budgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1986/87 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1987 thru May 31, 1988, appropriation authority
will be as set forth in the FY 1987/88 budget.
Recommendation

It is recommended that the award of Bid #2104 be made to Dunn
Edwards corporation per specified unit prices plus applicable
sales tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
