Recommendation To Award Bid For Towing Service.
Bid No. 1767
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for l~ght and heavy duty
truck and bus towing service at the unit prices bid for
period September 1, 1982 through August 31, 1983. Funds for
this purchase are available in account numbers 01-500-461-000-
292 (Mechanical Maintenace) 41-600-657-000-304 (Transportation),
but wlll be restricted to the balance of these accounts.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 7-1-82)
to furnish light and heavy duty truck and bus towing services
in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read July 15, 1982. Proposal forms were
mailed to fifteen vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One
proposal was rece~ved as follows

The high cost of the very heavy equipment necessary to accomplish
this towing plus the requisite prompt attention to the City's calls
apparently narrowed the field of vendors interested in providing
the service.
Reconnnendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Wilson & Vallely Towing,
Inc. (MBE) ,Santa Monica, California,at the unit prices bid for the
period from September 1, 1982 through August 31, 1983, as the
lowest and best bidder.
