Supplies Bid ~o. 1772
Introduction
This report concerns award of bld for emergency brake repair supplies
at the discounts from list prlces offered for the period September
1, 1982 through August 31, 1983 Funds for th~s purchase are
budgeted in account number 01-500-461-000-292 (Mechanical Maintenance)
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 7-29) to
furnish and del~ver emergency brake repair supplies in accordance
with City speclfications, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on August 10, 1982 Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-three
local vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One proposal was received from
Delmer's Brake Service, which offers Wagner master cylinders and wheel
cylinders for 37% off list, Bendix relined brake shoes for heavy and
llght duty trucks at 50% off list, Bendix air diaphragm at 25% off list
and Chicago Rawhide wheel seals at 30% off list. Stocking requirement
and proximity needs probably limited bidding on these items.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Delmer's Precislon Brake
Shop, Santa MODlca, California, at the discount from list prices offered
for the period from September 1, 1982 through August 31, 1983, as the
lowest and best bidder.
