Recommendat~on To Award Bid For Treated Lumber

Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for treated lumber for use
on pier repair in the total amount of $99,517.86 including
applicable sales tax. Funds for this purchase are available ln
account number 30-400-622-000-904 (Pier)
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 8-1-82)
to furnish and deliver treated lumber in accordance with City
specificat~ons bids were received and publicly opened and
read on August 17, 1982. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-five
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter
and Municipal Code provisions. Four proposals were recieved
as follows.

not both ltems. The bid of Inland Lumber on Item 4 stipulated
that item 4 would not be sold without the purchase from Inland
of two of the other items on the proposal. ThlS eliminates Inland
Lumber's bid on item 4 as low bid
Reconnnendation
Lt is recommended that the awardbe made to Gemini Forest Products,
Los Alamitos, California on Items 1,3, and 4 in the total amount
of $99,517.86, includ~ng tax, as the lowest and best bidder. It
is further recommended that all b~ds on item 2 be rejected per the
