SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to provide Maintenance
Service for Six (6) Parking structure Elevators, Bid
#2120
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide maintenance service
for six (6) parking structure elevators for the Parking Authority
in the total amount of $5,600.00 per month including applicable
sales tax, including two one-year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 20
and 22, 1987) to provide maintenance service for six (6) parking
structure elevators in accordance with City specifications, bids
were received and pub 1 icly opened and read on July 2 , 1987 .
Proposal forms were mailed to six vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance \.,ith City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Two proposals were received as follows:

C & S Elevator Company.s bid ($3,750.00/per month) is non-
responsive to the specifications and may not be considered. This
company does not have the ten years experience with otis
Elevators, a work force of at least six mechanics, and a
reference list of five similar locations which have been
maintained safely and properly, as required in the bid
specifications.
staff analyzed the two other bids, and finds that they do meet
all the specifications and have the work force and the experience
required to safely and properly respond to the City needs on a
timely basis.
BUdgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Parking Authority, General Services Department, account
number 77-500-610-000-691. For the period July 1, 1987 thru
August 14, 1988, appropriation authority will be as set forth in
the fiscal year 1988/89 budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2120 be made to
Viking Elevator company I Inc. in the total amount of $5,600.00
per month, including tax, as the lowest and best bidder, with two
one-year renewal options at the same price & conditions.
