SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Install Carpeting at the
Main Library, Bid Number 2128
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid for installation of carpeting
and tile at the Main Library in the total amount of $71,912.50
including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published August
18 and 19, 1987) to furnish, deliver and install carpeting and
tile at the Main Library, in accordance with city specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on August 27,
1987. Proposal forms were mailed to seven vendors and notices
were advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Three proposals were received as follows:
Universal Flooring Systems, Inc.
Finmark Floor Covering
$71,912.50
$91,590.00
$92,371. 00
Hampton Floor Covering
The lowest and best bid, as per specifications, is universal
Flooring Systems I Inc.

Fiscal Year 1987/88 funds for this purchase are in the General
Government category of the Capital Improvement Budget, account
numbers

($34,912.50), and 01-710-451-000-951 ($12,000.00).
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2128 be made to univer-
sal Flooring Systems, Inc. in the total amount of $71,912.50,
including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
