Miscellaneous Lumber and Lumber Suppl~es, Bid Number
2155
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver miscel-
laneous lumber and lumber supplies at specified unit prices, plus
applicable sales tax for a one-year period.
BACKGROUND
In response to pUblished Notices Inviting Bids (published
October 22 and 23, 1987) to furnish and del i ver miscellaneous
lumber and lumber supplies in accordance with City specifica-
tions, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
November 10, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors
and notlces were advertised in accordance with city Charter and
Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were received as

The items covered by this bid include various sizes and grades of
plywood, masonite, drywall and standard/better grade lumber.
These items will be stocked and dispersed to various operating
departments upon request. Staff has evaluated the low bid from
Southland Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory I they will be expensed
against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1988 I through November 30, 1988, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1988/89 budget for the
various using departments.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2155 be made to
Southland Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. at the specified unit prices
plus tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
