SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Taps, Drill Bits, Extractors and Drill
Wires, Bid Number 2142
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous taps, drill bits, extractors and drill wires, for a
one-year period at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales
tax, and two one-year renewal options.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
september 8 and 9, 1987) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous
taps, drill bits, extractors and drill wires in accordance with
City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on September 29, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to
thirteen vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with
city Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Five proposals were
received as follows:

Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1988, through September 30, 1989, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1988/89 and FY 1989/90
budgets.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2142 be made to Wise,
Inc. at specified unit prices plus applicable tax and two
one-year renewal options as the lowest and best bidder.
